Nearly two months fresh off a hot, sun-baked set at Gasparilla Music Festival, extraterrestrial psych-rock outfit The Venus heads indoors this week for a free gig where one of Tampa Bay’s brightest indie-pop bands The Jackettes plays a rare set in support.
The Venus can go anywhere from cosmic-country to straight up freaky, freeform jazz depending on who’s in the lineup behind principal songwriter Alexander Charos, and The Jackettes have always been one of the Bay area’s best purveyors of ‘60s-influenced lo-fi pop, so this is a no-brainer, must-see midweek rager with a 9 p.m. door time.
