St. Pete brewery and taproom The Brutalist hosts its grand-opening party this weekend

The folks behind King State—Tampa’s  go-to spot for craft coffee and beer—are finally ready to celebrate the grand opening of their new brewery and taproom across the bridge.

The Brutalist and its taproom counterpart Temple of Beer, located at 1776 11th Ave. in St. Petersburg, will host its first party on Saturday, May 21 at noon.

Alongside live music provided by Tampa acts Alien House (which recently hosted its listening party at King State) and Notsew, made-to-order pizzas from Luna Rossa Cucina Rustica and exclusive bottle and can releases will fuel the partygoers until who knows how long.

Special releases to grab at this weekend’s grand opening party include Brutalist  collaborations with the Illinois-based Mikerphone Brewing and Sarasota’s Calusa Brewing, its debut imperial stout and more.
And according to The Brutalist Instagram, customers can soon expect a consistent food truck schedule alongside an industry, trivia, and neighborhood night at the newly-opened brewery.

The Brutalist and its taproom counterpart technically opened back in March during Tampa Bay Beer Week’s inaugural King State  Lagerfest, but has been operating with tentative hours as the new brewery transitions into full service.

The self-described “pinnacle of community brewing” took over Flying Boat Brewery in January of 2022, and has since then expanded its production space, adding capacity for 90 more barrels and canning equipment.   Its minimalist taproom counterpart itself features large TVs, a large L-shaped bar, as well as and outdoor seating area.

There’s also a cooler stacked with King State’s newest and popular beers like its Hazy IPA and American West Coast style IPA collaboration with Tampa neighbors Magnanimous Brewing.

The Temple of Beer is now open from 4 p.m.-10 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, noon to 4 p.m. on Sundays and closed Mondays—but visit templeofbeer.com or follow its Instagram at @thebrutalist.beer for the latest updates on its operating hours.
