El Centro Asturiano de Tampa is throwing a week-long party during the second week of June to celebrate 120 years of service.
The Ybor City social club, which first opened in 1902 as a mutual aid facility for Cuban immigrants, will begin the celebration with free tours of the historic building and provide guests with celebratory glasses of Spanish cava.
Tours will take place on Tuesday, June 7 at 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. and on Thursday, June 9 at 1:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.
On Wednesday, June 8 from 6 p.m-8:30 p.m., Tampa Natives Show host Mario Nuñez will present "A Night at El Centro" in Centro Asturiano's second-floor theater. The free show will highlight "the powerful role immigrant clubs played in [Ybor City's] history," according to a press release.
The celebration concludes on Saturday, June 11 at 6 p.m. with a formal Spanish dinner featuring live music, cigar rolling demonstrations and flamenco dancing. The event is free for members and $100 for non-members.
