Powerstories' second annual Voices of Women Festival happens next month and is a hybrid online and in-person event that will showcase eight plays by nine local and national playwrights.
The festival is set to take place Tuesday, July 19 through Sunday, July 24, with two plays live in the theater and six pre-recorded and live-streamed online.
The Friday show (Legal Gringa) is at 8 p.m. on July 22. The Saturday, July 23 show ("my body. my voice") is at 3 p.m. Tickets to each play are $15; a festival pass in $77.
Each showing will be followed by a playwright and cast interview. The prerecorded plays will be available to view for 48 hours, and live interviews will be livestreamed each night at 9 p.m. Audience members can submit questions and comments via Powerstories Theatre’s website to be addressed during the interviews.
Powerstories Theatre’s goal is to highlight the works of women and the diverse subject put forward by the plays. Some titles include “my body. my voice” by Deborah Bostock-Kelley, “Legal Gringa” by Angela Page, “Reclaiming Grounds” by Beth Mahmoud-Howell and more.
