One of the most popular restaurants in St. Pete will soon host an exclusive Chanukah dinner, chock full of modern takes on traditional Jewish holiday dishes and drinks.

This special event takes place on Tuesday, Dec. 20—in the middle of 2022's Chanukah holiday, which runs from Dec. 18-26 this year. Wild Child's "ONE CRAZY NIGHT" Chanukah pop-up party starts at 6 p.m. and ends whenever you're stuffed to the brim with tasty Jewish-inspired eats.
Wild Child co-owner Matt Kaye tells Creative Loafing that its one-night-only food menu will consist of exciting dishes like pastrami lamb ribs—complete with smoked spices, yogurt dijonnaise, a Dr. Browns soda glaze and pickled green tomatoes—latkes with sour cream and a pomegranate apple sauce, and a chicken schnitzel sandwich topped with amba tehina, za'atar, shredded lettuce and pickled long hot peppers.

Dessert is sous chef Evan Lipman's and executive chef and co-owner Rob Reinsmith's Floridian approach to the traditional Jewish sufiganiyot or jelly doughnut, which will be filled with guava and cheese and topped with dulce de leche and powdered sugar.

Kaye says the Wild Child team is still finalizing its cocktail menu, but guests can definitely expect a variety of natural wines and "festive libations."

Although the restaurant itself boasts a modern, fine dining menu, next week's party will be an ultra-casual event and will not require any reservations. Drinks will be served from Wild Child's patio bar, while food orders can be placed at its outdoor window.

Wild Child, St. Pete's beloved New American restaurant, is located at 2710 Central Ave. in downtown St. Pete and is open from 5 p.m.-9 p.m. Wednesdays and Thursdays, 5 p.m.-10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, and 11 a.m.-3 p.m. for brunch on Sundays.
