Nearly 40 years after his first-ever Tampa concert, Billy Idol is coming back this spring to wrap Clearwater in a cradle of love.

Tickets to see Billy Idol play Ruth Eckerd Hall in Clearwater on Friday, April 21 go on sale Friday, Jan. 27 at 10 a.m. and start at $72.75-$152.75.

The 67-year-old pop icon, fresh off a run of arena shows, is supposed to play a career-spanning set, plus material from his latest EPS, The Roadside and The Cage, released in 2021 and 2022, respectively. A press release says Idol’s “longtime band including his collaborator and lead guitarist of over 40 years, Steve Stevens” will be onstage, too.

There are three other Florida stops on the tour including Orlando, St. Augustine and Hollywood.

Idol’s last show at The Cap, where he was reunited with superfan and Creative Loafing Tampa Bay Senior Music Correspondent Gabe Echazabal, was in 2018.
