Disgraced Americana songwriter Ryan Adams is back on tour and coming to Tampa Bay

Ryan Adams is back on tour, and you’re probably cringing knowing he’s coming to Tampa Bay.

Tickets to see Adams with his band The Cardinals play The Duke Energy Center for the Arts at St. Pete’s Mahaffey Theater on Tuesday, May 23 go on sale to the public on Friday, March 10 at 10 a.m. Prices have yet to be determined.

The 48-year-old’s return to the Bay area comes six years after his closing set at Gasparilla Music Festival and four years after his fall from grace in the wake of a damning, disturbing New York Times report detailing multiple accounts of “manipulative behavior in which Adams dangled career opportunities while simultaneously pursuing female artists for sex.” The FBI even opened an inquiry into the Whiskeytown frontman’s communications with an underage fan; the probe has been closed and “cleared” Adams, who’s since apologized and even received a glowing write up in Variety.

Among the women who came forward to detail abuse from Adams were his ex-wife Mandy Moore and a Time Woman of the Year, Phoebe Bridgers, who detailed some of her toxic relationship with him in her song, “Motion Sickness.”

The show is Adams' only springtime date in Florida, but he'll return to the Sunshine State in June for four shows in Jacksonville, Orlando and Ft. Lauderdale.
