Critics and movie fans alike can’t say enough good things about “Summer of Soul,” the directorial debut from The Roots drummer Questlove, who uses lost footage to tell the story of the Harlem Cultural Festival of 1969. Last night in front of Tampa Theatre, WMNF’s Steve “The Hitman” Williams broadcast his “Soul Party” program live from outside the historic movie palace, and Tampeños—including local jazz matriarch Kitty Daniels—were in the streets to dance and celebrate.—Ray Roa
