A restored midcentury modern gem owned by the folks behind popular local businesses like Green Lemon, Taco Dirty, and fitness studio Camp is now for sale on Davis Islands.
Located at 41 Bering St., the home was originally built by renown Tampa architect Robert Wielage, whose résumé includes the downtown Tampa Federal Building, the Tom Bradley Terminal at Los Angeles International Airport, multiple buildings on Hillsborough Community College campuses, and the Florida State University Fine Arts Building in Tallahassee.
In 1964, Wielage was commissioned to design this particular indoor/outdoor contemporary home by John and Carole Guyton. The home was later purchased and restored back to its glory in 2014 by owners Burt Mulford and Dean Hamric, who completely rehabbed the home's jalousie windows, doors, and floors, among other things.
The current owners are Matt and Jamie Lanza. Matt is a partner with the Ciccio Restaurant Group, which operates local spots like Camp, Fresh Kitchen, Cali, Taco Dirty, BetterByrd, Sweet Soul, Luv Child, Green Lemon, Daily Eats, and Water + Flour. Jamie is a co-founder of Camp.
The Lanza's two-story, 4,497-square-foot home now features five-bedrooms and five-bathrooms, as well as Havana-style wrought-iron gates, a glass mosaic fireplace, a custom slat wood orchid house, a yoga studio, a two-car garage, and a 40-foot lap pool, says the listing.
According to property records, the Lanza's purchased the home in 2019 for $2,525,000. The home is currently asking $3,250,000, and the listing agent is Harvey Petty of Keller Williams Tampa Central.
