For months now, the Tampa Bay live music scene has scratched and clawed for ways to put on safe concerts while locals and their elected officials figure out how to move forward in the age of COVID-19. On Friday, Discord Theory played a ticketed, limited-capacity gig at West Riverfront venue Hooch and Hive, which has featured a robust event calendar since reopening late last year.
In a text message to Creative Loafing Tampa Bay, Hooch and Hive General Manager Dean Rosenberger said, "Hooch and Hive requires patrons to be masked when not eating, drinking or seated. Attendance at shows is currently limited to at least than 60% of seats available."
"We dealt with the dancing ordinance in a number of ways, tables and chairs where the dance floor used to be, open communication between the venue, promoters, bands and agents about the lack of dancing. Open communication with patrons explaining the city ordinance," Rosenberger added.Ray Roa
