Guitarist LaRue Nickelson Celebrates the Wes Montgomery Centennial

The Tampa Jazz Club presents a Centennial Celebration of the groundbreaking guitarist Wes Montgomery, featuring the LaRue Nickelson Quartet, in the Mainstage Theatre at HCC/Ybor City on Sunday, March 19 at 3:00. The self-taught Montgomery emerged as Downbeat's 'New Artist' of 1960 and changed the language of jazz guitar in the coming years, before his sudden passing in 1968. His influence remains huge. The extraordinary guitarist LaRue Nickelson, who has taught at USF for more than 20 years, will lead a quartet of some of Florida's finest players in this tribute.
