Pouty purists like to knock the Clearwater Jazz Holiday for tapping non-jazz acts like Mofro, Doobie Brothers, Morris Day, Sheila E. or George Thorogood and the Destroyers to headline their party, but Saturday afternoon belonged to some of the best jazz players in the area when the Clearwater Jazz Collective featuring La Lucha, Thomas Carabasi, Jeremy Carter, Valerie Gillespie, John Lamb, Mark Moultrup, Nate Najar, LaRue Nickelson, Gumbi Ortiz, Jamie Perlow, James Suggs and Butch Thomas played a 150-minute superset at Coachman Park. Marlo was there to grab pictures.
