Photos: Dave Matthews Band returned to Tampa's MidFlorida Credit Union Amphitheatre on Wednesday
High school graduations at Florida State Fairgrounds reduced traffic to a trickle on Wednesday night, but Dave Matthews Band fans headed to a concert at the MidFlorida Credit Union Amphitheatre weren't afraid to get in too deep and eventually made it inside for a taste of yet another Tampa gig from the jam scene legend.
Sensing the venue still filling in, DMB went on 30 minutes later than scheduled, but made the wait worth it by opening the set with a song that is buried deep in many fans' soul, "#41."
"The Maker”, “Sweet”, “Granny” and “So Damn Lucky” were just a few of the sweet melodies that filled the warm, breezy night.
A DMB first timer positively told Creative Loafing Tampa Bay, “She’d never heard anything like it..” referencing Jeff Coffins' penny whistle during “Dreaming Tree." Not bad for a band that’s been around since 1991.
