Before last weekend, St. Pete Pride president Chrys Bundy issued a challenge to would-be parade goers thinking about the canceled parade plans.

“If you were originally planning on coming to St. Pete Pride this weekend, please instead find books by Black authors and read them. Eat at Black-owned restaurants, patronize Black-owned businesses, and, even better, donate to organizations like Color of Change or the Equal Justice Initiative,” Bundy told Creative Loafing ampa. “Our country will not change overnight. But a journey of a thousand miles begins with one step. Let’s walk together.”

St. Pete leveled up on that challenge this weekend when Pride marches melded into the Black Lives Matter one happening in the wake of the May 25 murder of George Floyd.

Dave Decker was in The 'Burg for a sweltering Sunday of solidarity.
