For the second weekend in a row, abortion rights activists took to the streets in Tampa Bay in response to the U.S. Supreme Court's overturning of the landmark 1973 case Roe v. Wade, which constitutionally protected abortions within the first trimester.
On Saturday in downtown Tampa, as rain closed in, an estimated 200-300 protesters not only spoke out against the decision but also encouraged others to vote in droves this November to defeat Ron DeSantis.
They also wondered out loud about continuing to vote for
Democrats who love fundraising off women's rights but seem to lose the will to fight when it comes to actually doing something about it. (Don't forget about the ones who refuse to take responsibility for
appointing pro-life judges either.)
Whether you're taking to the streets or not this weekend, you can
stand up for a the right to reproductive freedom by
donating to local abortion funds, telling your story, organizing, and sharing
important facts about why abortion is safe—and where its available in Florida.
