After James Cameron's "Avatar" hit theaters in 2009, shipping magnate Suramya Atapattu decided to transform his 5-acre Florida property into the fictional planet Pandora.
Located at 9614 Pondwood Rd, in Boca Raton, Atapattu purchased the property in 1994 for $550,000, and over the years has attempted to make his property as Avatarish as possible, adding yellow, purple, blue and green exterior lighting, bamboo and palm trees, life-size statues of animals, two lakes, fountains, a bridge, and a near 40-foot waterfall.
"I worked on it little by little and it turned into a full light scene with lasers and a waterfall, said Atapattu to the Wall Street Journal. I am constantly changing and redoing things as I see I can add something to it.
The 7,946-square-foot home now comes with six bedrooms and nine bedrooms, as well as a movie theater, a gym, an office, a tennis court, a pool, parking for 25 vehicles. Atapattu told WSJ he's selling the home for $14,950,000 because he and his wife plan to travel.
The listing agents are Chad Carroll and Matthew Dugow of Compass Florida.
