St. Petersburg-based Heavy’s Food Truck has been slinging its prized Southern comfort food throughout the greater Tampa Bay area for a 5 years now—and it's finally opening a brick and mortar location at 911 22nd St. S in St. Pete.

Heavy’s first physical restaurant, which was announced earlier today on Facebook, will provide takeout meals as well as a small area to sit and dine in. Beneath its announcement post are hundreds of comments from excited (and hungry) Heavy's fans, although there is no projected opening date for the new fast-casual spot.

Heavy’s is known for its daily specials and seriously stuffed styrofoam containers of soul food classics like smothered pork chops, baked beans, collard greens, fried chicken, oxtail and mac and cheese.

Along with this new storefront, Heavy’s will continue its catering services and food truck operation. Stay up to date with the Heavy’s Truck’s whereabouts this month by following its Facebook page—it will be slinging its famous soul food all over Tampa Bay this month.
