Jason Canning isn’t funny because of his uncanny likeness to Jim Carrey, nor because of his quirky foreign accent, rather because he always tells the truth. The truth that we all know but don’t want to mention.
And he asks the hard questions like, “Why does everyone look so happy on those genital herpes commercials?” Topics that matter. Canning says he especially enjoys when the topics sprout organically. “I love writing up on stage,” he says. “I feel when the pressure’s on to be funny is when I’m at my best!”
Canning has come a long way from his start as an actor performing in London theatre productions. He’s recently been busy hosting on E! Entertainment and lending that sensational voice to clients like DreamWorks, Warner Brothers, and BBC America. HBO’s hit animated series “The Life & Times of Tim” will also be using his talents, scooping him up for a guest-starring role alongside fellow Brit actor Alfred Molina in the season two finale.
