Breathe Carolina w/Chiodos/I See Stars/The Color Morale/Tek-One/The Air I Breathe Kyle Even and David Schmitt, better known as Breathe Carolina, are a hair-flipping, electro-pop, "crunk-core" duo whose new album, Hell Is What You Make It, features one catchy hook after the next. Each track is comprised of machine drum beats with hardcore breakdowns sprinkled throughout, though first single "Blackout" is a full-fledged dance number with autotune, synths, and Schmitt's vocoder-fied vocals. Post-hardcore outfit Chiodos also plays in support of their latest release, Illuminaudio, and joins Breathe Carolina on the "Scream It Like You Mean It" tour with other loud like acts. Echo Movement w/Fiction 20 Down Don't judge the Jersey Shore by its notorious reality show/pop culture phenomenon — there are definitely some treasures hidden amid all the flotsam and jetsam. One, Asbury Park septet Echo Movement, is an alt roots reggae rock outfit that doses their island-flavored grooves and beats with gently buoyant keyboard melodies, unexpectedly appealing moments of psychedelia (electro effects, warped-watery guitars and synths), hand percussion, and the brassy sounds of a two-piece horn section. Their thoughtful lyrics can be cheeky, like in "I Think God Smokes Weed" ("…And he was high when he made me / and I think he gave up halfway…), or more cleverly earnest ("In the Beginning" waxes on the peaceful time before the Big Bang). Reggae and blues-fused rock outfit Fiction 20 Down — which just issued a new EP, Do Not Feed The Radio — supports. (The Local 662, St. Petersburg)

DJ Andy Moor Amphitheatre continues the trend of bringing big names in dance music to town with high-ranking trance and progressive producer-DJ Andy Moor, who hails from the UK and has issued copious singles since he became active in 2000. His collaborations and remixes encompass the likes of DJ Tiesto, Avril Lavigne and Paul Oakenfold, he's earned all manner of dance music awards, and was even nominated for a Grammy for his 2008 remix of Delerium's "Angelicus." (Amphitheatre, Ybor City)
The Wholetones w/The Spark Notes An acoustic quartet from Naples, The Wholetones mix elements of Django-style jazz, spry newgrass, and backwoods folk with hints of rockabilly and metal. The result is a bouncing sound marked by some unexpected time signatures, an energetic interplay of banjo, cello, acoustic guitar, harmonica, upright bass and percussion, and throaty lead vocals backed by harmonies that are sometimes shouted rah-rah joyously and with noisy abandon. (Hideaway Café, St. Petersburg)
Doug Deming & The Jewel Tones For its next Side Door Series concert, the Palladium welcomes Deming for a concert billed as "swinging jump blues, gritty shuffles, and driving boogies from 50's Chicago blues." The group's sound is given a barroom coarse sheen with the reverb-drenched tones of guest harmonica wailer Dennis Gruenling, who's apparently known for his fusion of harmonica and swing/sax traditions and styles. (Palladium Theater, St. Petersburg)
Lynch Mob w/Jerry Outlaw & Friends Not to be confused with Da Lench Mob — the West Coast hip-hop group that once featured Ice Cube — Lynch Mob is the heavy metal and hard rock band fronted by former Dokken guitarist George Lynch. (Jannus Live, St. Petersburg)
Josh Roberts & the Hinges w/Have Gun, Will Travel/Halibut If you tossed the alt-country grit of Band of Horses, the folk rock drive of 1970s-era Neil Young, AC/DC's heavy grind and some wah-wah psychedelia into the same blender, the raw delicacy that would ooze from the 72-ounce pitcher would resemble, more or less, S.C.'s Josh Roberts & The Hinges. Roberts (lead vocals, guitar) shows himself a gifted songwriter with numbers like "Atom Inhabiter," the raucousness of the rhythm guitar and Roberts' wails adding up to a jolting minute and 57 seconds. Supporting act Have Gun Will Travel provides a wonderful complement, their horns, strings and gang vocals of songs like "Blessing and a Curse" adding nice texture to their alt Americana sound. Lil Phat & Foxx I'd like to write something nice and informative about Lil Phat, however, I don't have much to offer. Aside from a YouTube clips featuring his molasses sluggish (not-so-clever) rhyming against R&B slow jams, mixtape announcements, and a rather uninspired interview with the rapper in what looks to be a mall parking lot, he has next to no web presence. I think he's from Louisiana, as is Foxx, who has a Wiki entry but no website, some YouTube clips of his own, and a faster delivery style set against more upbeat aggressive production. This show starts late — doors at 10:30 p.m. (State Theatre, St. Petersburg)

Post-Rays Game Series/REH on the Road: Goo Goo Dolls Early in their career (pre-1993), Goo Goo Dolls were a grungier hard-edged rock band, until their sound was infested with a mainstream pop appeal and a few multi-platinum albums prompted them to continue down that hit-making road. Today, nine LPs deep, the trio is 100 percent radio-friendly with songs like the overly polished melancholy of their 14th Top 10 hit, "Home," off 2010's Something For The Rest Of Us. (Tropicana Field, St. Petersburg)
Rob Base/Yellowman w/Sagittarius/Shyann Roberts & The Poison Dart Crew A double header that features hip hop emcee Rob "It Takes Two" Base, and "King" Yellowman, the Jamaican dancehall reggae musician. (Green Iguana-Hawaiian Village, Tampa)
Rod Picott His uncompromising yet poignant narratives about blue-collar life are shaded with the realism of a person who is intimately familiar with the people, places and experiences he writes about, and have earned Rod Picott comparisons to the likes of Bruce Springsteen and Steve Earle. The dusty-timbred Nashville-based alt country singer-songwriter — who played the Studio@620 with collaborative partner, fiddle-playing songbird and lady love Amanda Shires last August — promotes his fifth and latest solo LP, Welding Burns, and returns to town unaccompanied by Shires to perform songs off it. (The Studio@620, St. Petersburg)
Jarvik 7 w/Zillionaire/Signals From Satellites A trifecta of high quality Tampa rock groups headed up by the melodic, expansive, visuals-enhanced post rock of Jarvik-7, which dropped a new album late last year, Formal Absence Of Precious Things, and haven't performed since their release show in December. (New World Brewery, Ybor City)
Hot Tuna Acoustic w/Collin Rocker Former Jefferson Airplane rockers Jack Casady and Jorma Kaukonen have been playing together for upwards of 40 years, their roots-blues spin-off band Hot Tuna becoming their sole project in 1972. This year's Steady As She Goes is the duo's first new LP in more than two decades. Recorded in upstate New York at Levon Helm's studio with super producer Larry Campbell, the album finds them looking back on the past and reflecting on the present in their usual wry manner with accompaniment by mandolin virtuoso and longtime collaborator, Barry Mitterhoff, who joins them for their unplugged set in Tampa. Expect energetic playing and plenty of good-natured stage banter. (Skipper's Smokehouse, Tampa)
Brian Wilson His fate was forever sealed when he co-founded the Beach Boys and went on to write a chunk of their hit songs in the mid-1960s before he dropped out of the band due to mental illness. Brian Wilson eventually recovered enough to begin working on solo material and issued his first LP in 1988, though he made is real comeback in 2004 with the completion of Smile, the original follow-up to the Beach Boys' Pet Sounds that Wilson was working on when all the shit hit the fan four decades before. On his current tour, Wilson performs Beach Boys hits as well as solo numbers and select cuts off 2010's Brian Wilson Reimagines Gershwin. (Ruth Eckerd Hall, Clearwater)

Christabel & the Jons Bringing retro back one swinging number at a time is this four-piece fronted by rich and velvety-toned vocalist and songwriter Christa DeCicco, who gets the bodies swaying with her band's take on roots, country swing, jazz and exotica. (Ella's Americana Folk Art Café, Tampa)
TUES 09
Carbon Leaf w/Delta Rae Carbon Leaf is a five-piece folk, Celtic and bluegrass-fused rock band from Virginia with an acoustic/electric sound marked by penny whistle, bagpipes, mandolin, lap steel, bouzouki, bodhran, loops, effects, fiddle, and percussion along with the usual guitar, bass and light drums set-up. Carbon Leaf left Vanguard Records last year to start their own Constant Ivy Music label; this May's Live, Acoustic…And In Cinemascope! Is their third independent release (Skipper's Smokehouse, Tampa)
Krum Bums w/Toxic Holocaust/Holy Grail Austin crossover hardcore/thrash-punk band Krum Bums stop at the Mug to promote the release of their new forthcoming album, Cut The Noose, out Aug. 23 on People Like You Records. (Brass Mug, Tampa)

Bryan Adams For more than three decades, Grammy-winning rocker Bryan Adams has been adding sexy rock ballads to the American hits catalog, from slower sensitive odes ("Straight from the Heart," "(Everything I Do) I Do It for You," "Please Forgive Me," "Have You Ever Really Loved a Woman"), to up-tempo barn-burners ("Summer of 69," "The Only Thing That Looks Good On Me Is You"). He's currently supporting 2010's Bare Bones, a 20-song acoustic collection of his material. (Ruth Eckerd Hall, Clearwater)
Perpetual Groove The electro rock four-piece from Athens is led by sweetly earnest songwriter, vocalist and wailing guitarist Brock Butler, who played an intimate solo show here in June and returns with full band in tow for a night of lights, dancing and plenty of tension-and-release jams. (Crowbar, Ybor City)
