Early this month, after lots of teasing, Prohibition Kitchen and Tap is finally open in Dunedin.
The restaurant bills itself as a “Southern comfort gastropub (with a twist)” serving up BBQ-inspired dishes, handcrafted cocktails, plenty of taps to go around, and an in-house bakery.
A few of its menu items include open face chicken and waffles, a smokehouse platter with brisket, pulled pork, and a quarter rack of ribs; and a snickerdoodle spiced apple cobbler for dessert. Cocktails sport names like “Hemingway’s Key West Daiquiri,” “Old Man from Georgia” and a “PK’s 1922 Rum Punch.” The menu ranges $2.95 for sides up to $31.95 for a porterhouse steak dinner.
Prohibition Kitchen and Tap took over the Whiskey Cartel space at 1600 Main St., which sat vacant for two years around the time of Lucky Dill’s Jason Mitow’s unexpected death; it was one of several projects he was working on.
Prohibition Kitchen and Tap’s hours of operation are Monday-Thursday 4 p.m.-11 p.m., Friday 4 p.m.-midnight, Saturday noon-midnight and Sunday noon-10 p.m.
