A day after Quinnipiac delighted Republicans around the country with a survey showing Mitt Romney up by six percentage points, those same pollsters are no doubt delighting Republicans again in the Sunshine State today with a brand new poll out this morning (link to come).

That poll shows A) Connie Mack and Bill Nelson in a statistical tie in their race for Senate. B) Shows Rick Scott at his highest percentage ranking in a year, and C) Shows Florida voters, by a healthy margin, support the controversial Stand Your Ground Law. By a narrow margin, they also support Rick Scott's decision spurning Bob Buckhorn regarding banning guns from the Event Zone outside the RNC this summer.

Moving on. CL got our first opportunity to meet and observe Pinellas County Democratic congressional hopeful Jessica Ehrlich in St. Petersburg yesterday. Most impressive was her lack of subtlety in assailing 81-year-old Congressman Bill Young for being out of touch with his constituents.

Sitting in with Ehrlich yesterday in a meeting of local Democratic seniors to talk about the Democratic party agenda was House Minority Whip Steny Hoyer, making the rounds of holding appearances with a number of congressional Democratic aspirants this week. Obviously the national Democratic party has already made their choice in the Ehrlich-Nina Hayden primary race.
