Although Florida political pundits still aren't taking Nan Rich's candidacy seriously, it's not dogging the former Senate minority leader one bit.
Buoyed by a poll released last week that shows her leading Rick Scott, 55-45 percent, in a potential one-on-one match, Rich told reporters on Monday night at a fundraiser in Tampa that she doesn't see money as a problem.
"It's not easy to raise, but I'm comfortable that I will have the money and resources when I need to have them," she insisted. That's despite her lackluster fundraising numbers for the second quarter of this year; she only raised $39,200.
That poll, conducted by Jim Kitchen, actually showed all of the Democrats who are considering a run in the fall of 2014, victorious over Rick Scott.
That includes Sen. Bill Nelson, who insisted again yesterday that he has zero interest in leaving Washington for Tallahassee. The Sunshine State's senior senator told reporters at Tampa International Airport that he wouldn't even presume to tell Tallahassee legislators to tweak the state's controversial "stand your ground" law. He said has enough issues to deal with in Washington.
