What would you trade for treasure?
OK, well, let's take a step back — the "treasure" is on the Barter Bike, created by Desiree Moore. Moore's an artist in resident at Breckenridge's BreakCreate, but tis summer she's doing a riff on Barter Boat. If you see the Barter Bike, the idea is that you trade something you have for something you want (in the Barter Bike Bike Cargo). Would you trade your pen for a plastic octopus? How about your Chanel lipstick for a midcentury advertisement for St. Pete? It's all about what you want out of the deal — and what you're willing to give to get it.
The drive behind SPAA's Individual Artist Grant Program is that the grants help St. Pete area artists create art that engages the public. The projects start in June; artists will exhibit art later in the year.
