Tampa Heights’ Armature Works hosts the Red Bull Mind the Gap skate competition on Friday, Nov. 11, giving Tampa Bay skaters and fanatics the chance to test their skills while onlookers nosh on pasta, pizza, noodles and fancy cocktails.
The competition—happening on the same weekend as Skatepark of Tampa’s Tampa Am—is free to attend and open to both amateurs and pros. Skaters will be judged on who completes the best tricks over an eight-foot-long waterside gap. The winner will be chosen by a panel of three judges for the chance to win a cash prize and $500 in travel expenses to Atlanta’s Mind the Gap later this year.
Mind the Gap goes down at Armature Works Friday, Nov. 11. Registration opens at 5 p.m. and the first phase of the competition will start at 7 p.m.
The event will feature some of the best skaters Tampa Bay has to offer, including the early career pros Jiro Platt and Devin Flynn. There will also be pop-up bars serving beer, wine, cocktails and, of course, Red Bull.
