The Bay area music scene has always been something to be thankful for, and it’s even cooler to see the Gwan Massive collective—born two decades ago to breed collaboration instead of competition—still out there rocksteadying after reuniting over the summer for a Fourth of July gig in downtown Tampa.

The crew—which globetrots around genres while staying rooted in reggae, rap and soul—celebrates another holiday, this time in Ybor City, for a post-Turkey day gwanning. A handful of bands—including Tampa rapper Jinx, pictured, who just released his first album in seven years—are on the bill at Crowbar alongside Funk N Tings’ DJs Blenda and Shafiq, local artists and grub from Jam Dish.

“Of all of the many many bands I’ve played with over the years, nothing quite compares to the vibe, camaraderie, and brotherhood/fellowship of Gwan Massive. We are truly best friends and family,” co-founder Kenny Pullin told Creative Loafing Tampa Bay. “Over so many years, people have moved out of state, gotten married, etc., etc., but we’re thrilled to be able to reunite and bring the people something new, as well as the classics that the people long to hear.”

There’s no cover for Gwansgiving happening Saturday, Nov. 30 at Crowbar in Ybor City.
