Democrats reacted with outrage in January when the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in the Citizens vs Federal Election Committee case that the government could not ban corporations from spending in political campaigns, and now they intend to do something about it.

Tampa area Democratic Congresswoman Kathy Castor confirmed to CL on Tuesday a New York Times story published earlier in the day that said the White House and Congressional Democrats are close to proposing legislation that would force private companies and groups to disclose their behind-the-scenes financial involvement in political campaigns and advertising.

“I would anticipate a bill would be coming to the floor of the House shortly, ” Castor said after a news conference at the USF College of Health Department on Tuesday.  “There’s one that’s been drafted, I think they’re dotting the i’s and crossing the t’s, but we can’t let these corporations take over our politics, ” she said.
