After a few weeks' worth of Halloween drinks that required a decent amount of time and work to make, we're going back to basics. Maybe it's just me, but I'm ready to enjoy something quick and delicious. And lots of it.

Over the weekend (at a Halloween party; go figure) I was introduced to a straightforward cocktail that's so tasty I'm surprised how easy it is to mix. It requires no shaker, no special tools. Just a glass and three simple ingredients. Needless to say, despite our many beverage options, we drank the hell out of this concoction.

But what's it called, Chris?

To my knowledge the cocktail has no name. I wasn't able to find anything on the interwebz, either. Originally, I thought it was a twist on a Moscow Mule, but after some further tasting, it seems closer to a Dark 'n' Stormy. Instead of the traditional recipe's dark rum, we're going with a spiced selection for our Spiced and Stormy, which has a nice ring to it.

I wouldn't mind if you followed along with On the Sauce's formula for homemade spiced rum. But, since we're taking it easy, Sarasota's own Drum Circle Distilling makes the award-winning Siesta Key Spiced Rum that works really well in the Spiced and Stormy. The Florida spirit swaps artificial flavors and sweeteners for spices and honey.

Kick back and give this week's cocktail a try. It's yours in less than five steps.
