Jroc Jones Birthday and Outkast Tribute w/Synergy In a Cup/Siobhan Monique/Demi Nova/Queen of Ex Carter/Joshua Cruz/Sam E Hues/Chevy Boi/DJ Qeys/DJ Spaceship/Tony Kapone Jroc Jones is an old man (35 looks good on him, though), and to celebrate the Tampa bandleader is bringing his blues, funk and harmony band Synergy In A Cup lead an all-out tribute to Outkast. Synergy headlines, but the rest of the bill is a dream team of Bar area emcees (Queen of Ex, Sam E Hues) plus soul (Demi Nova, Siobhan Monique) and pop (Joshua Cruz) singers. New Tampa rapper Chevy Boi seems to a favorite of the birthday boy, so early arrival is advised. (Crowbar, Ybor City) INFO

Living Room Sessions w/Dean Johanesen A house show in Pasadena is kind of like the Prairie Home Companion version of "ask a punk," but that doesn't mean this one isn't going to sizzle. Long-running Bay area songwriter Dean Johanesen takes to the home of scene staple (and reliable sound man), Bob Soptei, for a night of swing, rumba, jazz and Americana that'll have the house feeling a little like a tent revival. Cozy, cool and super intimate. For those that would like, a pot luck will begin at 6 pm. Bring your favorite dish and beverage to share. Music will begin at 7 pm. Space is very limited (25-30 attendees), so make your reservations as soon as possible. The suggested donation for the artist is $15-$20. The address will be provided when attendance is confirmed. Interested parties should visit facebook.com. (House Show, Pasadena) INFO

Her Burden Leicester, England alt-rock quartet Her Burden has found a show in Ybor, and we hope it’s ready for the wonderful strangeness that is a Saturday night at the Castle. We’re not sure how songs from Her Burden’s new album, Lately, are going to mix with the venue’s penchant for playing EBM, but “Lately” — complete with crunchy guitar and a fun, punky hook, might play nice with the rest of the programming. Planned Parenthood Benefit w/The Spuds/Purr Purr Purr/Reality Asylum Donald Trump is in the throes of his 17-day vacation, but Bay area bands apparently aren’t interested in taking a break from making sure pussy is still grabbing back. Just look at this show featuring Shae Krispinsky’s cat-rap project Purr Purr Purr and St. Pete femme-rock and rollers The Spuds. Proceeds benefit Planned Parenthood at this early Saturday evening show, so throw some dough in the donation hat at the door. (Planet Retro, St. Petersburg) INFO

Easter Island w/Oak House/The Blonde Tongues New World favorites Easter Island returns to play the vaunted Ybor venue one last time (the 22-year-old space is relocating after its final show on September 23), and the Athens, Georgia dream pop outfit is bringing some nice company along for the ride. Music on Hot or Mood (Oak House’s April 2017 release) can dip into classical, Eastern sounds, but most of it is anchored in the cinematic, melodic and borderline psychedelic rock that frontman Gresham Cash has weaved into all 10 of the album’s intense tracks.
