On the heels of the Planet Retro Records burglary that took place earlier this month, St. Petersburg's Urban Deli and Drafts was robbed Thursday night.
Urban Deli and Drafts, which previously operated as Urban Provisions at 2410 Central Ave., is located about 30 feet away from Planet Retro in the Grand Central District. The craft beer bottle shop and deli opened its doors with a new menu just two weeks ago.
Friday morning, Urban Restaurants Group's Andy Salyards posted a message to the Deli and Drafts Facebook page.
"Please take this message as encouragement to do a small action that makes our city better and a sign that while we're on the right path, we have a ways to go," a portion of the post reads.
Salyards told CL by phone that there's not much to comment on, but that the shop was broken into after closing, a crowbar was used to open the door, and the person(s) "went straight for the register and got cash."
"That side of town needs attention. That should not be the normal, but it kind of is," Salyards said. "But I can't comment further than that."
