Rain fell from the sky in brief interludes on Saturday night, but the Palm River commanded the attention as hundreds paid tribute to the gift of water.

Loy Krathong, originating in India and Thailand, celebrates all that rivers provide — life.

Celebrated globally, Loy Krathong at Wat Mongkolratanaram of Florida (Wat Tampa), aka the Thai Temple, attracted hundreds to the Temple's Palm River waterfront.

Revelers launched krathongs (floating vessels) adorned with incense, candles and personal accoutrements before making a wish and dispelling any negative thoughts.

After submitting to a karmic detox, festivalgoers followed with authentic cuisine, krathong competitions and a beauty pageant, the Miss Nopamas.
