Friday night, head to Seminole Heights for Art in the Heights, including Pussy Riot, music video screenings by Russian artists and activists at Tempus, as well as the see-it-before-its-gone Boys on Film (Friday’s its last day), an exhibit about the media and Columbine. While you're over that way, check out the Mermaid Tavern (because, well, it has mermaid in the name but also because they have raw wine. I'll drink it and report back.)
Saturday has arrived! Sleep in, then get to it. Last weekend I saw Peter Pan at freeFall and found it the perfect depiction of how a child imagines things; if you've seen it, go see its prequel, Peter and the Starcatcher (also at freeFall). Feeling adventurous? Catch them both Saturday, but break for Saturday brunch at Alesia. After it's over, unwind with a drink at the Blue Goose, where Whitney Holborn will make a one-night-only appearance at her first solo art show, Neon Dreams.
Other things I’d like to cram into my weekend (and think you should, too) include Henthorne’s Between Worlds at FMoPA (Friday), a Lectores reading with Pulitzer-Prize winning journalist David Finkel (also on Friday) and, of course, Sunday morning brunch. My latest passion? Craft Kafe on St. Pete’s much-forgotten West Side. And, since it's the first full weekend of the month, I also want to make my ritualistic trip to Brocante for a vintage stapler or some other awesome thing I didn't realize I needed.
If there's time left, I'll get to that laundry. Maybe.
