This weekend CNN tweeted about the Clooney Foundation for Justice paying for 3,000 refugee kids to go to school. Amal Clooney, a Lebanese-British international human rights lawyer, and her husband, actor George Clooney, will fund seven existing public schools in Lebanon so the schools can accept more refugee children. Great story, and it has all the feels, but it's the way CNN tweeted about this act that made Twitter explode.

Now, the Clooneys co-founded the foundation, but clearly the international human rights lawyer is able to play a more active role in the foundation than her husband, which doesn't mean he cares less — only that, if we had to guess, this particular project may be the Lebanese international human rights lawyer's baby. It didn't take long for Twitter to applaud CNN, as it did with this masterful tweet, the first of many such sentiments:
George was wearing Armani at the announcement.

Absolutely glowing on the arm of his wife, the former model turned actor expressed a fatherly desire to help children after having twins.

Which is exactly how the women half of power couples get discussed in many newsmedia outlets, although, admittedly, that tide is turning. Of course, not everyone's evolving at the same speed:
Cool but a lot of people are celebrating that this time a man was referred to as husband, as if he's not a well respected actor on his own.

It's really nice of people like this to give Twitter something to do…
Give me a break.Amal has been referred to as his wife more than he has been referred to as her husband. This headline is a refreshing change

And not everyone swooned at the nuances of equality. Twitter, being Twitter, took a tangent, brightly flaming with whollly misguided righteous indignation:
My question is we have our own kids in America that need help why not help them wait no tax break here
— john wilson (@jmwilson6434) August 5, 2017
And like this:
Oddly, #HelpAmeriasKids [sic] failed to trend.
Who's Ameria and why do we have to help their kids?

However, Twitter users — armed with facts — pounced.
She's not American and they don't even live in the US???
