The event's a Pride newcomer, having got its start in 2018, shortly after Jacob King, aka Bak Lava, came to town.
King's a Chihuly fan," says Morean Marketing Manager Sarah Aldrich.
On one of his museum visits, King mentioned that he does drag and proposed doing a docent tour of the Chihuly Collection in drag.
"We'd never done something like that at the Morean or the Chihuly, so we thought it was just a great thing," says Aldrich.
Thus the annual Drag Queen Docent Tour was born.
This weekend, Bak Lava walks through the collection once again; this time in honor of National Coming Out Day. To avoid crowds, only ten very lucky people will get to see the show in-person at the Chihuly. The event usually sells out. But thanks to Zoom, a potentially unlimited amount of people may enjoy the show from home this year. Don’t miss it!
