Now here’s the dream. i dreamed i heard a knock on the door and when i opened it there was a blind prophet wearing garments made out of my old marital bedspread. he came in went directly to my bedroom and lay down on the bed. his garments spread over the bed and became my old bedspread. i became enraged.”
Don’t you just hate it when your inner guide shows up too late? Or, maybe this Wise Man showed up on time but you, in all your youthful confidence fueled by inexperience, ignored him or her. Think about it. Who tried to warn you off the loser you married? Grandma? Grandpa? I bet somebody did. Dream Momma wonders if you became enraged with him/her too?
At any rate, here you are reminded of your mistake. Angry all over again about lost love, time, and spirit. I’d be angry too. But wait, maybe this is a warning dream. A dream that is telling you “beware.” If that’s the case Dream Momma wonders if you’ve met another charming addict that you’re going to allow in your bed (both literally and figuratively). You need to know right now the odds of you making that same mistake again are sky high.
Here’s what you need to do. Journal and grieve your lost love, your lost time, your lost spirit. The anger will subside. Next find an Al-anon meeting, one where all the partners aren’t on pity-pots and learn how to avoid the trap of repeating the same mistake twice. Finally, find a decent therapist that will help you rewire the “I’m attracted to addicts” synapse in your brain. Good luck. You CAN do this.
