Tampa will follow in the footsteps of Milan, Paris and New York during our own Fashion Week Sept. 13-22. Several events throughout the bay area will showcase local, national and international designer’s latest lines.
Kicking off the week, Buffalo Gal Vintage and Luxe Fashion Group are hosting a historical fashion show at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 13, at Vue 19, 200 Central Ave., St. Petersburg. Fashions from the 1920s to today will be showcased. Tickets are $10.
Young Stella McCartneys and Calvin Kleins are invited to come learn about the fashion industry at Kid Couture at Glazer’s Children Museum from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday Sept. 15. There will be children’s fashions shows and workshops. The event is included with the price of the museum admission.
Kids will have to stay home during the Cocktails and Couture event at the Ritz Ybor at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 16. The Kevin Murphy event will exhibit fall looks from Saks Fifth Avenue and Tribeca ColorSalon Fall 2012 Trends, entertainment from Bella Danza dance studio and music from the Crate Brothers. Advance tickets are $5 or $25 for VIP runway seating. Proceeds will benefit Pediatric Cancer Foundation.
Working Women of Tampa Bay will teach women the secrets of looking good at a beauty seminar at Push Ultra Lounge in St. Petersburg at 6 p.m., Monday, Sept. 17. Stylists including daytime television beauty expert Wendi Braswell will demonstrate make-up techniques, color analysis and other secrets to make you swoon worthy. Tickets are $20 for members and $25 for non-members, wine and snacks included.
Attendees will be taken back in time at the History of Fashion show at the St. Petersburg History Museum at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 18. The models will show fashions of the last 90 years, remembering times skinny jeans weren’t existent. Tickets are $50 for general admission and $75 for VIP, both including two cocktails and hors d’oeuvres. VIP tickets include seating and a swag bag.
The not so sexy but very necessary side of the fashion industry will be discussed at The Business of Fashion luncheon presented by Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce at the Sheraton Riverwalk at 11:45 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 19. Panelists include actress and intimate garment designer Rhonda Shears. Tickets are $50 for members, $60 for nonmembers and $450 for a corporate table of 8.
Party with the pretty people at Model Behavior Cocktail Soiree at Element at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 19. Tickets are $50 and include cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, raffle prizes and more. (Tickets for this one will not be available at the door.
The pop-up trend goes retail with Karma — The Shops of Franklin at the Kress Building, Thursday, Sept. 20 through Saturday, Sept. 22. Clothing and accessories will be available for purchase. There will be a VIP grand opening party at 6 p.m. Thursday. Tickets are $35. There is no charge for admittance Friday and Saturday.
In addition, Fashion Week Tampa Bay will host fashion shows and open a boutique for purchasing local designs at 6 p.m. Friday Sept. 21. There will also be a block party after the runway shows. VIP tickets which include a runway seat, swag bag and complimentary cocktails are $75 in advance, $125 at the door. General admission tickets are $40 in advance, $65 at the door. Location is TBD.
