Carrie Jadus: Blue Nudes
July 16, 6-9 p.m. PORTSPACE, 3007 Beach Blvd. S., Gulfport. portspacegallery.com.

Artist Carrie Jadus, part of the creative collective, studio and gallery space Soft Water Studios in St. Pete’s Warehouse Arts District brings her visually stunning work to Gulfport for a show. Jadus’ work reflects a heavy local influence; she uses colors reminiscent of Florida’s heat, water and skies, and Carrie Jadus: Blue Nudes promises more of her deliciously crafted painting. If you’re not sure what I mean by the color of heat, pop over to her website (carriejadus.com) and poke around the gallery page. “Bounty at the Pier” and “Around the Minaret” capture Florida’s heat and light with broad, yet graceful, strokes. Her Blue Nudes series offers Jadus’ interpretation of the human body, and even here, Jadus’ local style shines through with the blue: You get the feeling bodies only look this way in the subtropics. PORTSPACE will have its first of three public openings during Gulfport’s Third Saturday event. PORTSPACE remains Gulfport’s sole true gallery, albeit surrounded by a delightful collection of creatives, including Tom Pitzen, Susanne Vernon and Eric Folsom, to name a few.
