Busch Gardens new ride alert: Cobra's Curse set to debut in 2016 (w/video)

The newest theme park ride will sport some promising features.

Set to debut in 2016 in the Egypt area of Busch Gardens, Cobra’s Curse will takes passengers on an adventure to uncover the secrets of an Egyptian excavation site.

With a height requirement of 42 inches, an eight-person train, zips around at more than 40 mph, and the goal of family and friends riding together, this impressive one-of-a-kind spin-coaster brings a whole new element to family fun. Its impressive figures don’t stop there — the 3-1/2-minute ride will be able to service just more than 1,000 riders per hour.

“This isn’t your ordinary spin coaster. In true Busch Gardens style, we’re putting a twist on this attraction and taking riders on an unforgettable and exciting journey,” said Busch Gardens Park President Jim Dean in a press statement.

The ride first lifts 70 feet in a unique elevator-like style, and then launches through the coaster track set over the Serengeti Plain, bringing you up close and personal with an 80-foot snake icon before firing the trains backward and finally releasing the lock on the trains that sends you spiraling through the coaster. No single experience will ever be the same, as the velocity and frequency of the spins is controlled by the weight distribution of the train’s members, making the ride ever so repeatable.

The Tut’s Tomb queue line is also different from the rest as it will be an air-conditioned experience through an Egyptian archaeological dig site — a perfect escape from the hot Florida weather.

“We continue to find new and exciting ways to offer thrills for the entire family, and we know Cobra’s Curse will even further solidify Busch Gardens as Florida’s Thrill Leader,” says President Dean.
