Nothing good to see in the soon-to-be-reopened theaters? No worries, downtown Clearwater’s most beloved venue has your back.

In lieu of live music returning to its stage, the Bilheimer Capitol Theatre is launching a classic movies series that starts when “Jaws” swims onto the big screen on September 8.

This year’s 12-film lineup also features two generations of humor (1987’s “The Princess Bride,” “Shrek”), cult classics (“Labyrinth” and “The Big Lebowski”) and a pre-Halloween screening of “Hocus Pocus.” Even David Bowie appears when “Labyrinth” screens on September 22.

Tickets are on sale now for $10, but you can save on a family four-pack for $30. A full lineup is available via rutheckerdhall.com, but the Cap isn’t the only place to catch a movie and support a local institution in Tampa Bay.

As it waits for the all clear to host patrons in real life, Tampa Theatre, the jewel of downtown, virtually screens about two dozen different films—from music documentaries, to kids movies, indie flicks and more—nightly. And once you’ve seen them all, the nearly century-old movie palace will sell you a marquee message, giving you a chance to help the nonprofit keep the lights on.
