Commedia Dell'arte: See the Spin d'arte Gallery after hours at the Tampa Improv in July

The Tampa Improv may have created the pitch-perfect date night hybrid.  Thursday night, swing down to the bar for a meet and greet with the artists of Dunedin Fine Art Center's Spin d'Arte program, the featured exhibit this month in the gallery space at the Improv.  The paintings are created on rotating surfaces — on anything ranging from traditional canvas to reclaimed auto parts.

Didn't know the Improv was in the art game?  Manager Ryan Grimm has been featuring local artists and musicians in the gallery space at the Improv since last April.  After you've had your fill of culture, booze, and belly dancing (local dancer, Jameela will be in attendance), head downstairs for a performance by headliner comedian Nephew Tommy Miles.  This is the guy they had to book an extra show for last year due to the demand for seats at his first performance.

If you're interested in purchasing one of the Spin works or registering for the course, both options are available at the event. 9:30 p.m., Thurs., July 29, The Tampa Improv, 1600 Eighth Ave., Ybor City, improvtampa.com.
