It's official. My life is complete. Last night, I finally got to rock out to Led Zeppelin, live. Okay, so it wasn't the real Led Zeppelin, but it's as close as I'm gonna get. Led Zeppelin led (no pun intended) a musical revolution in the late '60's with their fusion of hard rock, blues, and folk. As I have said many times before, I was born in the wrong generation and classic rock has a special place in my heart, especially Led Zeppelin. I mean, I have a freaking zeppelin tattooed on my shoulder (although most people think its a blimp…). Here is my play-by-play of this past Saturday night's incredible and unforgettable show. In my usual timely fashion, I arrived late. I frantically ran through the rain soaked parking lot and into the nearly sold-out Ruth Eckerd Hall. Ironically, the band was just finishing "Rain Song," a slower number that created a nice mood and fit the weather perfectly. The stage was neatly arranged with The Florida Orchestra, conducted by Brent Havens, sprawled out behind a full rock band fronted by vocalist Randy Jackson. After "Rain Song," Jackson laughed and said, "The best thing about a Led Zeppelin show is that you can go from a song like that to a song like this," the band clamoring into "Kashmir." The crowd went wild and many stood up to dance. I was in heaven.
And that was only the beginning…
