Fans of Superman have something to look forward to: A new Superman movie. WB is putting a rush on the property in an attempt to start production before 2011 (after which they lose the rights to the franchise), but the proposed premise and director have some wondering if it’s a smart move.

The first big announcement is that Zack Snyder (Dawn of the Dead, Legend of the Guardians) will be directing the reboot/sequel movie with Christopher Nolan (The Dark Knight) overseeing the project. You’ll remember Snyder as the director of 300 and Watchmen, and while both had varying degrees of success, he wasn’t WB’s first choice. Apparently, Black Swan director Darren Aronofsky was.
