Also, this Saturday, get in line with a different way of looking at faces and figures. A solo exhibition of works on paper, Julie Weitz: LineTimeLine, combines painting, drawing and collage, and can be seen during a Saturday night opening reception at Tempus Projects in Seminole Heights. Weitz dismisses traditional techniques of portraiture, arranging lines and patterns in unpredictable ways and blending her subjects with the background.

According to Tempus, “Weitz employs optical effects that seize the viewer’s attention and direct it towards a single point of focus.”

Weitz’s work has been featured on the cover of New American Painting and has been reviewed in the Philadelphia Inquirer, Artweek and Creative Loafing. At the opening, purchase or peruse unique goods from Zen Lily, Audry Garber, Julie Dye Designs, Mark Noll, Lesley Stuart Tinnaro and Scott Diaz. Also, view selected works from Daniel Mantilla. Music by DJ Brian Oblivion; refreshments and light hors d'oeuvres will be served.  7 to 10 p.m. Sat., Oct. 9, at 5132 Florida Ave. Tampa. On display through Nov. 1.
