The Greek Community of Tarpon Springs is a permanent exhibit that explores domestic traditions, foodways, religion, music, dance and celebrations, with a special focus on the local sponge industry and other maritime traditions. Southern rock artist Corey Smith (pictured) doesn’t like to be associated with the formulaic country pop that’s all over the airwaves right now. The 32-year-old former teacher grew up in Athens, Ga., where he got his start singing and playing guitar for friends and in local bars. Since then, he’s written and self-produced five LPs, and these days, he’s spending a lot of time on the road performing sold-out shows and nurturing an avid fanbase with his modern acoustic flair and confessional lyrics.
