First Monday Movie Night at the Independent returns to the Seminole Heights Independent. Tonight you can see for free a deliciously over-the-top classic about restless adolescents living in a creepy suburban dystopia.
Over the Edge stars Matt Dillon in his screen debut. Jonathan Kaplan's 1979 film also includes Italian-American teen dream, Vincent Spano, Dillon's future Rumble Fish co-star.
Several local musicians, including Keith and Susie Ulrey, say they have ritually watched the angsty drama. The town in the movie, New Granada, inspired Keith's record label and promotions company, which represents local acts Candy Bars, Zillionaire, Rec Center, Sleep Vikings and others.
