Attention all you unemployed folks out there, and we know there are a lot of you. There's a fun, new opportunity for you to get your name out there.
First, some background: Corporate recruiter Cara Christopherson, too, found herself out of work for a year. She ran out of money from benefits and other sources and had to come up with some sort of idea to pull herself up by the heel straps. Since she couldn't get the jobs to come to her — like so many skilled professionals in this economy — she thought of a way to bring herself and others to a place where networking opportunities and a little bit of fun and therapeutic bonding could be offered and shared. Christopherson collaborated with TheBayConnection.Com to host the Pink Slip Party, where unemployed professionals can meet and mingle, get some pointers and maybe even learn about job openings. Guest speakers for tonight's Pink Slip Party — Kelley Rexroad, Founder of krexconsulting, and Michelle Bauer, Founder and Chief Strategist of Common Language, Inc. — discuss how to promote your skills and put your best, bad-ass foot forward. Complimentary snacks (cheese, fruit, crackers, etcs) plus coffee, tea and water will be served. For those who've had a rougher day on the unemployment line, there'll be a cash bar. The event takes place 6:30 p.m.-9 p.m. at the Centre Club, 123 S Westshore Blvd., Tampa. E-mail cara@baycityinteractive.com. Admission is free.
