Boston-based sextet Spiritual Rez (pictured) took home a Boston Music Award for Best World Music Act in 2007, their brand of jam encompassing the sounds of reggae, Afro-beat, jazz, rock and funk. Spiritual Rez infuses its positive message music with spry horns by a two-horn section of trumpet and trombone, and mixes laid-back grooves with fiery funked-out psychedelia. The band impressed P-Funk keyboard vet Bernie Worrell enough that he’s sat in with them on numerous occasions.
