Do It Today: Twenty Minute Theater, Choice Affair seminar, and operas of The Met at a theater near you

Twenty Minute Theater is just what it sounds like: a half hour (minus commercials) of live experimental acting, in which students of the Actor’s Class Repertory Company perform a series of scenes. Some are bequeathed by local writers; others are written by the actors themselves. Skip reruns of Gossip Girl tonight; you're in for some real drama. Contact Elyse Van Breemen at [email protected] for more info. Jan. 27-28, 7 p.m. Weds.-Thurs., Pangea Cafe, Clearwater.

If you can't afford airfare to see your favorite operas grace the hallowed stage of the Met, here's the next best thing: selections from the world-famous house of music are broadcast in HD to theaters around the world. This time, see Strauss' comic opera, Der Rosenkavalier (The Knight of the Rose). Visit fathomevents.com for a full list of participating locations. Encore, Weds., Jan. 27, 6:30 p.m., Citrus Park Stadium Park 20, Tampa, $15-$22.

The Tampa Electric Company's Downtown Debriefing Series hosts Below the Surface: The Florida Aquarium's Archeaological Explorations, where Aquarium reps Michael Terrell and Casey Coy discuss its current projects -- like an underwater archaeological survey of Tampa Bay and its tributaries in order to locate, investigate and interpret historic wrecks. Visit tampasdowntown.com for info and registration. Weds., Jan. 27, 7:30 a.m. networking and registration, 8-9 a.m. seminar, The Florida Aquarium, Tampa, $20-$25; includes breakfast.

Wade decision's recent 37th anniversary, Planned Parenthood hosts two Choice Affair Seminar luncheons with guest speaker Dr. Carol Cassell, author of Beyond Knocked Up: The Personal Dilemmas and the Price We All Pay for Unplanned and Unwanted Pregnancies. The seminar visits two locations this week: Weds., Jan. 27, noon, Renaissance Vinoy Golf Club, 600 Snell Isle Blvd. NE, St. Petersburg; and Thurs., Jan. 28, noon, Maestro's, Straz Center, 1010 N. MacInnes Place, Tampa. Visit myplannedparenthood.org for more info. $50.
