Opera Tampa has a special treat for the first early standard time sunset in downtown Tampa.

The company continues its mission to bring opera to the masses by hosting a free outdoor concert at 5 p.m. today at Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park. Accomplished vocalists will perform arias from famous operas and Broadway show tunes.

Opera Tampa has teamed with the Gasparilla Arts Festival folks to present this special event, and will feature a preview of award-winning art to give attendees a taste of the local festival.

Food trucks will be onsite if you decide not to pack a picnic, too.
