If you’re a dog owner living in St. Pete, Laurie Elmer’s “Dogs of the Burg” book launch party at Dog Bar St. Pete is the thing to do this weekend. Elmer’s new coffee table book, “Dogs of the Burg,” isn’t the first photography book featuring St. Pete’s dogs—and it probably won’t be the last—but what makes it different is that it places dog pics alongside historical photographs of St. Pete courtesy of the St. Petersburg Museum of History.
Elmer describes it as a “captivating walk around the ‘Burg’ with adorable canine ‘tour guides.’” Of course, the dogs aren’t really your tour guides. Your real guides are Elmer, who highlights dog-friendly locales, and local historian Ellen Babb, who provided historical content for the book. The best part? Proceeds help raise funds for Fluff Animal Rescue.
