His show at the Van Wezel will draw from his book by the same name and will give the audience insight as to how his past created the man behind the Izzard-esque ridiculous comedy for which he's so well-known.
Oh, and about that book? Bill Gates named it one of his "5 Amazing Books I Read This Year" (the others were Evicted, The Sympathizer, The Best We Could Do and Energy and Civilization.) The book also made it to the New York Times Best Sellers list.
“If you’ve never seen Eddie perform his stand-up routine, you’re missing out. Like Monty Python, he often draws from real historical figures, such as Shakespeare or Charlemagne, and comes up with hilarious riffs, many of them improvised. And like other super talented comedians like Robin Williams and Tom Hanks, he’s also great in serious dramatic roles. (He recently appeared in the movie Victoria and Abdul, with Dame Judi Dench.) He even talks semi-seriously about running for Parliament," Gates wrote.
If you need more Izzard, you can always opt for the VIP ticket, which gets you a pre-show meet-and-greet and photo, participation in a group Q&A, and a laminated pass you can save in your scrapbook, hang off your rearview or taunt your not-so-lucky friends with.
